When this experiment ends, the prices will return to normal.''
For those of you that love the animating part of 3d animation, i guess this software may be something you have come across before and might aswell be something totally new to you, but here is the news you can get a powerful animation software for 3d for as low as $10 and the truth is this, this amount is small in any language you speak... isnt it so, well maybe not in Zimbabwe currently.
I have come across this software during my days at Triggerfish animation studio in Capetown (the makers of the biggest 3d animation to be done in Africa - Zambezia) yea yeah, i know i am kinda greasing my ego a bit saying that but... pls allow me do that, i paid my dues.
Back to the topic, while at triggerfish studios, i came off being a Maya beginner to have to deal with a studio using different softwares, they used lightwave for their Modelling and other things but Project messiah 2.5 was the animation software, my Maya process of learning Maya and animation in general put me of the animating part of 3d even though the bit i tried showed me that i am better than my teacher who played me an Intermediate level DVD and walked off, as his way of teaching a beginner how to animate, so meeting another animating software different from Maya was a no no for me, after a while i decided to give it a try and guess what i made my first attempt on animating a bird... as you might imagine i frustrated myself trying to animate wings (only the good animators go in that direction), yet my attempt was not bad afterall only that i never finished it.
Every other animating guy in the studio or who came into the studio had to go the Messiah way and thats how i knew the software, the studio have since moved over to Softimage for the current feature film as i mentioned above however before that happened, lots of projects from US clients, South Africa, other parts of African including Nigeria, Kenya and Malawi to name a few was animated using project messiah 2.5, the works were brilliant even though some required some learning curve cos mos people came from the maya background.
Seeing how far messiah has evolved over the years tells me that one can only expect nothing but high level animation capabilities from these guys, they now stand at version 5 which is a long way from version 2.0 and 2.5 that i always knew.
David Maas of www.drip.de has this to say ''I vouch for it for character and creature animation purposes. Its the only software I’ve experienced that made rigging fun.… the community forum has lots of learning videos, there are loads more if you become a member.''
One thing to note though is that in order to really become an owner, you ownership is dependent on them meeting their sales target, i dont know how many but the indicator on their page shows that the goal is nearly being reached at what i figure is around 85% of their target.
I hope you know enough now to want to get you one, even though you dont see how or why, i think at such a price as this, its worth having for keeps, and for some this may just be their very first software they will own and which is not a crackware... now i got some people's eyes rolling at me.
Cheers
